The Naxxar Victorians celebrated the 2021/22 season this weekend when they held their ‘Night of the Victorians’ awards night at the YUE Bistro by Munchies.
This year, five awards were handed out by the club, with forward Fabrizio Farrugia the one to take the most accolades, winning three awards on the night.
This year’s awards were as follows:
- Fan Favourite Award
- Top Scorer Award
- Most-Improved Player Award
- Players’ Player Award
- Player of the Year
Following the club’s initiative to promote our fan’s opinions towards the team, this year’s fan favourite was voted to be goalkeeper Ayrton Agius. A total of 61 votes were submitted by our fans this year, with Agius amassing 51% of the vote.
Farrugia was the clear winner of the Top Scorer award this year after scoring six goals in 12 matches. He was joined by Malcolm Fenech, Kyle Agius, Keith Zammit Tabone, Moses Nwankwo, Mark Deguara, Luke Mifsud, and Daniel Camilleri who all scored a goal this past season.
For the Most Improved Player award, the nominees this year were newcomers Luke Mifsud, Giuseppe Dattoli, and Jeremy Busuttil who went on to win the award.
This year, the club gave the chance to the players to show their support to the player whom they thought had been the best for the club throughout the season. With 46% of the votes from 22 player submissions, Farrugia was once again the winner.
Finally, the greatest award of the night – the Player of the Year award – was awarded to a deserving Farrugia for his hat-trick of awards.
The club would like to show its appreciation to Munchies Group, Lana & Ryan Photography, as well as club partners Pharmacare Premium Ltd for their help.
