Club rewards players at Night of the Victorians

Following a very positive season in the MAFA Division 3 championship, the Naxxar Victorians players were back together for this year’s Night of the Victorians award ceremony. The event, which took place at Blackleys in Pietà, celebrated the team’s achievements throughout the campaign with no less than five awards handed out in addition to a token of appreciation sponsored by our friends at Marrobbio. Special thanks goes to Delicia Catering for their help with the event.

Midfielder Dejan Mijailovic took the night’s greatest honour after being named the team’s Best Player of the season. Mijailovic, who was already the recipient of the MAFA award for the club this year, was in the team’s starting line-up in every game this season, scoring two goals and assisting three by the end of the championship commitments. This sentiment was also shared by his peers Mijailovic was also named the Players’ Player after a post-season poll within the squad.

Forward Fabrizio Farrugia extended his run as the team’s top scorer for the season after winning the award yet again. With five goals in 11 matches, Farrugia cemented his spot as the team’s all-time top scorer once more.

With commitment and growth being a crucial part of the club and its targets, two special awards handed out were the Most Improved player award and the Most Committed Award. The Most Improved player award was given to central defender Julian Micallef who stepped up for a solid season, while the Most Committed Award was given to fellow defender Giuseppe Dattoli who remained consistent and even played through injury throughout the campaign.

In this year’s Fan Favourite Award voting, an accolade which we left completely to our fans, Farrugia took the honours. While we congratulate him for winning the award, we would like to show appreciation to all of those who have taken the time to put in their vote.
