Club celebrates Night of the Victorians 2023

The Naxxar Victorians players and staff celebrated another season during the weekend at the annual ‘Night of the Victorians’ awards night at Kimchi.

Despite the 2022-23 season being particularly disappointing for the club, suffering an unfortunate relegation, the club remains focused on its project and decided to award the efforts of its players throughout the season.

The 2022-23 season’s Best Player award was awarded to Keith Zammit Tabone. The central midfielder had two goals and was instrumental for the club throughout the season. The two other nominees this year were Antonio Dattoli and last season’s winner Fabrizio Farrugia.

Voted by his peers as the Players’ Player for the season after an interval voting by the full set of players in our season’s roster was Italian defender Antonio Dattoli.

In this year’s Most Improved award, the prize was awarded to Maverick Grech, who won the award after his debut season with the club. The two other nominees were also new players – Julian Micallef and Julian Sultana.

Another award introduced in this edition of the awards night was the Most Committed Award with the winner being another rookie, defender Julian Micallef. Maverick Grech and Mikhail Duca were the other two nominees for this award.

Finally, the Top Scorer award was given to Fabrizio Farrugia who led the team’s scoring with three goals this past season, followed by Maverick Grech and Keith Zammit Tabone who both had two goals to their name.

At the end of the ceremony, each player in attendance was handed a commemorative memento by club president Karl Borg for being with us throughout the season. Coach Connor Muchmore and assistant coach Antoine Farrugia were handed appreciation plaques for their services to the club.

From the Naxxar Victorians and www.naxxarvictorians.com team, we would like to thank all of the players who were available to us throughout the 2022-23 season in MAFA Division Two and we would like to congratulate all the winners of this edition of the ‘Night of the Victorians’.
