Naxxar Victorians are happy to announce the signing of eight (8) new players for the coming second round of MAFA football this season. The club has worked around the clock this past week to finalise all deals as yesterday’s 8PM deadline approached. Here’s who’ll be joining us at the club.
Afrim Krasniqi: An Albanian born striker who was definitely born to run! His speed and agility make him a perfect forward to help us get in the goals. Krasniqi has divulged with us at naxxarvictorians.com that he has played both in his home country and also in Italy before suffering an injury some time ago.
Matthew Grech: A born and bred ‘Naxxari’ who joined the club as a profession of his love to the locality. After signing with the club, Grech spoke to naxxarvictorians.com, saying “I’ll be giving my 100%- I’m finally going to be playing for Naxxar again!” The prolific striker also plays in the MFA third division league with Mdina Knights, thus giving both teams a boost with the effort in training and match time.
James Borg: It is with great pleasure that one of players for this round is former player, James Borg. Borg was with us last season but was not available to start the season with the rest of the team this summer due to other commitments. However, the midfielder is finally back training with the boys and ready to get back to his best.
Kurt Axisa: One of two back-to-back signings, Axisa is a defensive minded player who can help us out both in our back four as well as in the midfield roles. Despite being out of the competitive sphere for some time, Axisa is sure to be of great help to our squad throughout the rest of this season.
Malcolm Fenech: One of two players which have joined us before the deadline day is center back Malcolm Fenech. A former product of Lija Athletic, Fenech has played many different roles on the pitch but his height and stature have pushed him towards the defensive role. His accuracy and fight make him a perfect fit for this Victorians team.
Mark Galea: Another former Lija product, Mark Galea is one of those defensive leaders we all want with us on our team. Just like Axisa, Galea can make an impact in both the center back position as well as the defensive midfield role. Previously playing in the SWAN league last season, Galea has finally made the switch to the big league to play in MAFA.
Robert Peplow: Another player associated with Mdina Knights is Robert Peplow. The ex-Knights player has joined the club as one of the back-to-back signings mentioned above, signing with Axisa to boost our midfield positions. Peplow is no stranger to MAFA, having been a part of the Qormi Hotspurs squad last season. This year, however, he has opted away from the Spurs to join Naxxar.
Pierluigi Pace: One of our last signings on Transfer Deadline Day and the ‘last but not least’ for you today is another Naxxari who will be playing for Naxxar again! The pacy winger provides a fresh boost to our attack to help in our aim of scoring more goals.
Stay tuned for the first appearance in our next episode of MAFA MATCHDAY PREVIEW next week, following our game against Tal-Qroqq Versity in the MAFA Knockout quarter finals. We hope you are as happy as we are with the signings made and we urge you to come down to Santa Lucija Grounds next Saturday to support the boys in red!
PS. Special thanks to all those involved in the successful completion of all transfers!
